B16A1 question
Hey guys,
I'm new to the whole engine swap .... LS/VTEC thing and i was just wondering about something.
My ultimate goal is to build something along the lines of an LS/VTEC. I'm currently running on my B18B 98RS stock engine. I don't really like the idea of all the work that needs to go into building an LS/VTEC and I'd rather make an effort to not waste a perfectly good non-vtec head. Heres my question...
Is it possible to build an LS/VTEC getting a JDM B16A1, and getting a stroker kit for it? Like a nice knife-edged crank and rods that will get the displacement up to 1.8L. I know machine shops offer cranks and rods. Would this not be the same as if I put a B16A1 head and pistons on my LS?
If it is the same ... will the stroker B16A1 work with my existing LS tranny? Oh, and one more thing ... should I be worried about the stock pistons? ... will they handle the extra displacement?
