make sure you didn't overtighten the oil filter- you could have pinched the gasket and are getting a small leak.

I've noticed that when I busted my radiator and hose, my coolant leak smelled like pancakes. Very weird, but is that the smell you are smelling?

Indeed! Antifreeze is actualy a very sweets glycine concoction... also very deadly if drunk... and smells like odd burnt sugar when it steams off...

Your radiator could have a micro-leak that could be letting a little coolant juice steam off at a very slow rate

The smoke smells kinda like burnt oil. Could some have leaked onto the exhaust and be burning off? If that were the case it is taking a long time to go away. I'll have to check the filter to make sure there is no small leak.

Another thing to keep in mind is all of the recesses in the block above the flange for the oilpan at the base of the block.

If the oil filter was loose, a significant amount of oil can leak past the filter gasket and seep down the backside of the block, collecting at the base.

When I first changed the oil on my B18B, I spilled a significant amount of oil removing the old filter, so I know that a half-cup or so can pool up there without question h:

Another thing to check out is the solenoid valve for VTEC operation in the head. Check the camshaft seals as well. Although somewhat unlikely, it's a good thing to check too.
