Default my gs-r is slow =(

or is it?

Am I suffering from the Honda torqueless engine syndrome?

I realized that most vehicules (70% of the cars here are SUV) are much faster than me on the launch. I usually drive smoothly and shift around 3500 RPM. Most likely, in order to launch faster, I have to really put the gas on and shift way after 4000 RPM... but I feel like I am overworking the engine like.

Am I doing anything wrong?

They will always be faster than you on the launch. Short of a supercharger, there is nothing you can do about it.

Hondas play catch up in the second 1/8th. That's just the way it is. You want something fast off the line, buy a V8 or something AWD.

Id strap on a super charger some good front wheels a good intake, headers, larger exhaust system, larger injectors and call it good!

Yes. If you want it to go fast, run it to the redline. You are not overworking the engine. If you don't run it in the VTEC band, it will act like a normal 142hp B18B.

If you are racing someone and want to be fast, rev it up to 4 or 5 at launch and then shift at 8, don't froget to floor it. The gsr's engines make all the power at high rpm's, if you aren't giving it good throttle and shifting high, u will be very slow.

Are you trying to race these SUV's or are you guys just driving regular? If you're trying to race them then I agree w/the last 2 posts.............redline the engine and peg the accelerator.

LOL!!

No I am not trying to race. It's just that I notice my GS-R doesn't fly off the line. You have to revv it hard above 4000 RPM, and I feel like the engine is working hard.

I think the first week I got it, I was driving very hard and got 18 MPG on it just doing fast accelerations. Then I took it to work with regular driving, and it bumped me back 32 MPG. (50 miles/day of straight highway ).

I don't mind revving it at all, but off the line, we are in first gear and I feel like I am just making a shitload of noise when I revv it hard to take off fast. Second and third gears are awesome tho
