Default Car Shaking

I'm posting this for a friend. The car shakes once it gets to speed around 80 mph...just had the tires balance and an aligment done because the car was shaking from 50mph and up. Well it's gotten a little better, but around 80 it still shakes a lot. I know one of the CV boots is torn, but I don't know if that would cause the shaking. Any ideas guys?

TIA.

from my understanding, yes, there could be some damage to the cv that causes shaking.

i have a similar problem and while getting an alignment helped, i found that it was a bent front left wheel that is most likely causing the shaking. haven't replaced them yet so i can't say for sure... but it's something to look at.

meant to say that the bent wheel is definietely causing SOME of the shaking... steering wheel shudder, etc... but possibly not all.

a torn boot and the resulting grease leakage could cause the splines in the joint to be damaged and wear away....at that speed even the slightest imbalance on the driveshaft can cause noticable vibration.

bent axle or damaged rotor could also do it. run over any large animals/small children lately? :rick:

when the wheels were balanced, that would have been discovered.

Also, don't forget badly worn hub bearings. That's another source of vibration. Steering ball joints and recievers also give up the ghost and can lead to excessive play. Sadly, there are lots of things to check as potential sources....
