Default Widest tires for '96 GS-R

I'm looking at buying some new wheels and R-compound tires for my GSR. I've decided on Toyo RA-1s and Kosei K1 Racing rims. Now the question is what sizes? I'd prefer to stay with 15" rims, but would consider 16" if experienced trackers recomend it. In either case, what's the widest possible width I can get without causing rub. 215? 225?

This is for the track, not autoX. And the car still has the stock suspension (for now).

Thanks!

Stay with 15's for the quicker accelaration of the two and 225 tires for the optimum traction and chassis stability.

um....maybe 225's will fit, but whats more important here is the offset and wheel width. Tire size is last on the list

Has anyone fitted 225s successfully on a GSR?

Some of the Honda-Challenge racers use that size!

I have a 98GSR 2Door with Eibach ProKit and Koni Yellows.
Drop should be 3.5/2.5, wheels are 16X7 38mm offset.
I had dunlopSP9000 225/40/16, only rubbed when doing a fast u turn.

I think you should have no problem with 215's for sure. You might be able to do 225's, not sure though.

I dunno, I think even with 215, there will be rubbing, I stick to 205, can't complain.

Well, I'm running 215/40/17 lowered ~2 inches and rubbing on the hardest of turns. I've seen R-compound 225's fitted on stock Integras on the stock 15" wheels for autocross only (and the rears will occasionally rub).

Looks like I'll go with 205-R15 for now to be safe (Toyos don't come in 215-R15). Thanks for the help, folks!
