Default HELP! Stuck Sunroof!

Ok, ever since I got my car I noticed the sunroof is difficult to get shut. I had to play with the button to get it to close. It opens fine but won't close easily...kind of hard to explain. Anyways, my sister has the same problem with her car, however for me, its different, because her's is managable and mine seems to be permanently stuck in the open position. I can't get it closed! I played with the button for an hour, even let the car sit for a few hours and tried again but nothing. You can hear the sunroof motor turning when its open (back) and I hold the button to open it (go backwards), but when I push to close it (go forwards) I hear nothing.

So, I had to cover my roof with a tarp because it rained tonight and I really could use some help, any ideas, to help me close the sunroof, first, and maybe ideas of how much it would cost to get fixed also. Thanks.

-Mike

There is a way to manually close your sunroof. It is in your manual. It should tell you how to do it. There is a plastic cap in your roof that I'm pretty sure pops off and then you stick a tool in there and manualy close it. I read this in my manual a while back, so I can't tell you exactly how to do it. But read your manual and it tells you what to do.

But that is for G3. I just noticed yours is a G2, although I would think it would work the same way.

Thank you so much. You were right on. Just popped off the plug, used the sunroof tool I found in the trunk and popped the plug back on.

So now that I have it closed, does anyone know how much it would cost to be fixed? Like parts and labor, or parts and if I could do it myself. Thanks.

amen for bored manual reading! it's great to keep by the toilet! i would have to agree abouth the switch fixing the prob. obviously if the motor is running it shouldn't be it, sounds like the wire to close it has come loose or switch has gone bad. need to do some toilet reading though because there should be a test for that switch, i.e. ohm'ing it out or bypassing it just to see if it is the switch

to clean the switch: http://www.g2ic.com/tegtips/interior/4.html

I think it's a pretty common problem. I had mine replaced before I knew about cleaning it. It cost me about $50 at the dealer.
