The key to a good anti-theft system (At least to prevent vehicle loss) is to make the thief as nervous as possible. That's why while I only have a mediocre alarm (Some old alpine unit... 8027 or something like that), I have a starter kill and a fuel pump kill in seperate remote locations. The starter kill is also a novel solution in which the switch is intergrated with part of my dash electronics.

Unless they have a towtruck, I believe that it will take at least 3, probably 5 minutes to disable all of my car's security, and that's if you actually know where everything is

If they want my car, I want to make it as frustrating as possible... cause if they steal my headunit and sub... oh well... but if they get off with my car... That's a bit more difficult to replace.

Lojack if you are really worried about getting your car stolen but you have to know that it has been stolen

I just bought a DEI Hornet 554t with a 2 way pager, so if my alarm goes off, a little pager about 2in x 1in with beep like hell until I turn it off manually. Its convient, only had it installed for 2 weeks, already had my alarm going off, to where some fat ass decided to sit her ass against my car while trying to get into hers.

Also, for the best security feature I think I have is that my car use to be automatic, but converted to stick. The people that replaces it, left all the wiring for the automatic in the car, including the cluster and stuff, all hidden, and a switch is hooked up to it. If the switch is activated, the computer will think the car is automatic and will not start at all. The switch is welll hidden to, but anyways. If they want your car, an alarm isn't gonna stop them. I would also try and avoiding buying big fancy scanners and stuff to PROMOTE you have an alarm. A small LED that is visible if you walk up to the car is decent.

And I work for a retailer and I live by Alpine, except Hornet because I wanted a 2way pager.

like said the install is only as good as the installer
one who is neat, hides wires, relocates crap

be sure you get back up batter, engine kill/starter disable, extra sensors, etc

i have a clifford rs2 if it makes any different, upgrade to rs3 one day

dei is coming out, or has came out with a GPS thing for your alarm. it wont help cars that are being broken into though. it allows you to track the location of the car via the internet. like aaron, im getting the RS3 sooner or later h:

its a extra external batter yjust for the alarm so that if the connection to the car battery is cut the alarm is still functioning
