engine & transmission problems -need help
Hi I have a 1992 acura integra RS 2-door auto with 242,xxx km on it. My shift cable has failed me, leaving me with only drive, no park, reverse, neutral, or 4th gear. A new shift cable here in st.johns newfoundland canada is over $300. And to no avail can i source a used one. On top of this im going to need an engine rebuild within the next year or less (the engine has low compression). Normally this would not be a problem, however im in college and funds arent in great supply. So with all this being said i was wondering if anybody would be able to tell me what, if any, honda vehicles (ie. honda prelude or honda accord) can swap there engines and transmissions into my integra. If possible im hoping to change it to a 5-speed in which case i would try to find a whole car for parts. Just to let anybody reading this know, im doing an automotive course in college so i have a somewhat fair idea as to what i may be getting into but, nobody here has done such a swap that i or anybody that i know has done. So info for doing swaps in import cars is not really available . Any info that anybody can share or reccomend someone for me to ask would be of extreme benifitand greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Thanks
Rule of thumb - Most if not all B-series parts are interchangable. Most if not all D-series parts are interchangable. You can pull another B series transmission that's cable-clutched and install it, but you'll probably only find that on 2nd Gen Integras.
You could also buy a conversion kit from www.hasport.com and change over to a hydraulic clutch and in that case install any B-series transmission up to 2001.
No Prelude or Accord transmission (H- and F-series engines) will mate to your engine. In that case, you would need to swap the whole engine/drivetrain assembly, which you can also purchase a kit for from the above mentioned shop.

hey, i have a 1992 integra 2 door ls and i jus got the same problem. i went to my regular mechanic n he said that the shifter cable is like 250-300. i found 1 on ebay for 55$ with shipping and insurance. i ordered it n it works great. he has 3 more.
go to ebay.com. go to ebay stores. then find the store named "eaton auto parts". then go to acura integra parts. then click on the shift cable.
