problem w/playstation in car

Hey, if you want to do something kinda cool, you can listen to "hotspots" of whine: take an old tape player, hit play with no tape in it, turn the volume all the way up, and listen on the headphones as you move the tape player to various parts of the car.
Yeah, that's pretty cool. Do you know why that works?

Is this a quiz? I'm no electrical engineer, but I'll venture a guess that the magnetic head on the tape player picks up some interference leaking/resonating from poorly-insulated or poorly-grounded electronics.
However, I do know the technical term for the interference, it's called "crap"
