How do I get rid of the horizontal piece that goes across the air dam on the pre-98 Integras (as Shingo nicely re-worded)

I've seen people just clip it off and hide the slits but I want mine to look nicer.

My plan was to cut it off and re-enforce the backside of the opening with metal brackets (something like a really big modified “L” brackets) then cover it with a sheet of diamond cut grill. So it would be nicely secured. However the two slits would still be there. So how would I go about patching that?

To sum it up, I want it to look like this:


Any info would be great.

i have no idea what the hell you are talking about.

are you talking about the center grill???? or the lip or what?

i know this doesn't answer your question; but i've seen that area gutted in person, and i thought it looked pretty bad. i once thought of doing this same job, until i saw what it looked like. of course, this was completely open, but i'm not a fan of putting a grill in there either..

 

I guess I'll Photoshop my car and see how it looks. It just bugs me, it kinda sticks out especially when my car is red. And it would make it a little different from the other Integra in the neighborhood

Opinion highly respected and put into concideration, theres no turning back when i cut it off.
