i don't think you should mod anything until you're more familiar with the car.. but what do i know?

Lowering is a must on ALL Integras. It should be a law.

I agree with this too. Drive the car for a while and learn about it and how it handles before you start modifying it in any way. At least you'll know the strengths and weaknesses of your car and what it can do on it's own without any mods. Then later you'll understnad how your chnages made it better or worse.

I understand the need for shocks, but for initial lowering, especially while on a strict budget of $400, shocks are not essential. I rode on stock shocks lowered almost 2.5" for 6 months and was not in dire need of new struts.

Yeah I agree with this first...I didn't want to say anything because most people get all pissy if you say what they don't like to hear, so I didn't bother.

My real suggestion would be to buy a Helm's manual, and read up about your car. Learn to do things first...like tune ups and oil changes. Then, learn what the basic components do in your car, and what would happen to your car if you change/modify them. This can be most easily done through reading up...and I'm not talking about webboards, but more like actual literature on how engines work, and how other mechanical components of a car work as well.

Thanks guys,

You're right about the fact that I need to read up on the car. I just see all these tegs with hella mods and it gets me going. I think I'm just gonna put clear corners and a CAI in for now, and then start to save up for the lowering kit, and then go on to rims and tires. Thanks for the advice!

This is an awesome site for cars in general. I've learned so much from it. It details every major component on a car. It also goes as far to explain systems like VTEC and current strides in the automotive community. In regards to the post, I would go cai and a decent head unit for my stereo. Good luck.

Ben

i say as long as ur shocks dont blow, which only happens to heavy cars like a maxima, dont worry about shocks. unless ur balling then get it, but me, i think hondas are lite enoughto roll with stock shocks, especially them civics, u never need shocks, maybe if u want a better ride all around but shocks are damn expensive, what ever happend to just cutting the springs and rolling on dookies???? hehehe

Translation please?

I'm not experienced in the art of lowering but I know its more complicated than "cutting the springs and rolling on dookies". Even if its not necessary, if I had the money, I would get shocks too. For me, since I'm not loaded, I would get some nice springs, and a front camber kit, and have them put washers on the back. Then you're looking at about 2-250 for everything

I would look at KYB AGX shocks and Comptech or H&R Sport springs.

It'll cost you around $500 but it seems to be the most popular setup for a daily driven Integra. If you really want to get serious you should save up for a coilover kit and Koni Yellows
