I understand the need for shocks, but for initial lowering, especially while on a strict budget of $400, shocks are not essential. I rode on stock shocks lowered almost 2.5" for 6 months and was not in dire need of new struts.

Yeah I agree with this first...I didn't want to say anything because most people get all pissy if you say what they don't like to hear, so I didn't bother.

My real suggestion would be to buy a Helm's manual, and read up about your car. Learn to do things first...like tune ups and oil changes. Then, learn what the basic components do in your car, and what would happen to your car if you change/modify them. This can be most easily done through reading up...and I'm not talking about webboards, but more like actual literature on how engines work, and how other mechanical components of a car work as well.
