Default JSpec verse Stock?

I was just wondering what the differences were between the LS,GSR, and Type R compared to The US ones. Im assuming that the LS was made in Japan too. I honestly don't know. Anyways, I guess i could research a lil more but im lazy and couldn't find much. Also, I'd like to know what makes the JSpec engines more powerful. Less restriction, OBD2 BS, or whatever. Just hook a brotha noobie up. Thanks in advance.

just to get the ball rolling, the jdm versions have higher output motors due to higher compression, for the gsr and type r's anyway.

So what do people do to get JSpec engines to pass emissions? Is the swap even legal?

i always heard that was the reason they were so readily avail. was because they had stricter smog laws and it was cheaper to buy new engines over there as apposed to fixing old, that's why there were so many for export, i just bought a jdm b 18b but havn't had to get it inspected yet ? unsure of power diff. if any in b18b1

First of all......this is a dum question but what does JDM stand for. I know its japan or japanese something. Ive asked around and no one knows so ive decided to just ask and look retarded.

So they have strictor emissions? I thought we had strictor emissions.

Thirdly, anyone know a good place to get JSpec engines. I own a car parts company and .com so i could probably get them for wholesale or less.

Thanks guys,

Ben

in japan they did not only have rs/ls/gs/gsr/itr models
there were versions with single cam engines
even there the itr came in a 4 door version and like said the gsr motor had a a;utomatic tranny as well

for the itr engine they run a slightly higher compression engine, as well as have higher octane gas more readily available

they HAD less emission control then us, and had more freeier flowing oem parts (ie header, exhaust)

JDM-japanese domestic market

jdm engines are readily available, and the reason they dont want those engine here are
1)smog emissions
2)no way of tracking where you got it (no vin codes)
