i always heard that was the reason they were so readily avail. was because they had stricter smog laws and it was cheaper to buy new engines over there as apposed to fixing old, that's why there were so many for export, i just bought a jdm b 18b but havn't had to get it inspected yet ? unsure of power diff. if any in b18b1
