Default Thoughts on possible Teg purchase.

I'm currently looking at buying a Black 96 GSR from my local acura dealer.

170,000 km (about 100,000 miles).
custom exhaust.
type r valves.
performance chip.
intake and filter. Can't remember what kind.
Lowered.

I'm looking to spend about 15 grand on it. That's about 9300 american dollars.

It looks really really good and the guy I'm talking to says it puts out a little over 200 horses.

Do you guys think that this a good buy if the mechanic inspection goes well? Any other thoughts?

Dale

I think there should be more to it than that if it's putting out over 200 hp. Was there anything else?

sounds like a high price for that many miles. Find out the exact mods on the car. Mods actually bring the price of a car down not up

I don't know exactly what was on it. That was just the stuff he told me oer the phone. I haven't gone and looked at it yet. I just wanted to ask some people in the know if it sounded good. I'll post more when I go look at it later this evening.

that is a little pricey for that many miles
also modifications dont make value go up, it decreases them
also like said with those mods no way he is making 200hp, even at the engine thats pushing it
find out all his mods, take it to a good mechanic to check it out, and lower the price

Something that should be mentioned is that you should really be careful when buying a car that has already been modded. I agree with airon, deffinately take it to a good mechanic and have them look it over.

The same thing..........have a mechanic check it out........but more importantly , try to form a profile of the seller........For high mileage cars, it would be beneficial to buy a car from a guy/woman who was well off financially, so you know that everything that needed to be done, has been done. Also, its even better if the person has all maintenance records, that shows that they are organized neat, and somewhat anal, and anal people USUALLY take very good car of their cars....

Default Thanks.

Thanks for the reply's. I decided not to go with it. Nice looking little car but it was driven by a 16 year old kid from brand new so I'm not going to buy it. That's 170,000 hard km on it, I think.

And they want closer to 16 grand for it.

So that's a big no.

But again, thanks for the replys.

If he says it puts out 200hp, have him show you a dyno, otherwise, consider it BS.

And WTF is with the performance chip? It probably just delays the rev limiter which means they may have revved past the stock redline every once in a while or every day for all you know...
