Default Cleaning Engine Bay?

What is the best way to get your engine bay looking nice and clean? I was thinking about slapping some simple green on there, and then using a pressure washer to blast some of the shit off of there. Do I need to cover the battery? Is there a better method?

That is what i used to do also, and on the really greasy parts spray an engine degreaser from yr autoparts store. Cover all electricals, dist cap, battery, your air filter (if its a cone), just use the water to spray off the simple green and the degreaser dont use it to wash the enitre engine bay, no reaseon to get it all wet in there. Dry it off with a towel and use the damp towel to clean the rest of the bay. Do it during the hottest time of the day and postition your engine bay to be under direct sunlight to all the sun to help dry the bay (areas you cant reach). Good luck

A lot of time, elbow grease, patience, and effort. I would not spray the engine bay with a hose...but if you do make sure to cover the battery, fuse box and distributor with plasic and seal it as best you can.
