if you put it into 2nd gear first, it lines up your syncros so it will go into 1st a lot easier. thats what the actual acura dealer told me to do.

Wait, I think I missed something here, you drop it in first while moving? I always downshift while slowing down, and when I'm at a complete stop, I put it in first.

The old CRX I use to drive... It would'nt go into first unless you were at a complete stop.

 

most transmissions wont. and honda'as are like that. they do not have a syncro on first gear, and a small shift gate. when you downshift into first while moving, and let out the clutch, even slowly, it puts a big shock on everything inside of it, and shock isnt good.

but when your stopped and it is hard to push into gear, it is because the gears aren't lined up correctly. you are trying to push a tooth into a tooth, instead of a tooth into a valley. so dun' worry 'bout it.

 

i have a harder time putting mine in 1st than i did in my prelude.
a lot of people complain about this in integras. same as the squeaky hatch i guess.

You should rarely (very rarely) have to drop to 1st after already moving. 1st gear is reserved and should only be used for starting from a dead stop. In almost any other case, 2nd should suffice. There's a high speed lockout mechanism to prevent people who don't know how to drive stick from accidently shifting into 1st. Don't force it.

 

Correct me if im wrong, but isn't it bad for your tranny to shift into second if your not going to fast, even if you rev it high as well, cause i have this problem as well, it is hard as hell to shift into first so alotta times i have to shift to second with the revs real low, maybe i should rev it higher and that'll solve my problem, but i dunno
