1988 Integra LS
I will soon be purchasing a 1988 Integra LS. Are these decent cars? I am going to get a GSR, but I need this one to hold me over. It's only gonna cost like $1500, and it's worth $2,016 (Edmunds). That's a tight deal. He said it never had any probs, except for one time he had to have the 5th gear repaired. It has 155,000 miles on it, but that's ok for a Honda/Acura, right? Does anyone have any pics of this year car? I can't seem to find any. Also, are there any things I should look for when inspecting it, such as problems related to that specific model/year? Thanks for the info, I look forward to being officially welcomed! Don't do it yet though, I still need to buy it! Oh yeah, just outta curiousity, how would this car fare against an '88 Escort GT? I'm thinking it will come down to driver skill??? This kinda sucks, that $1500 was going towards my GSR
It will take a long time to save up $7K for my GSR, but by them I'll be able to get a newer model.

I just bought an '88 from a friend yesterday for $80 and it runs. Needs new front axles but I am happy i mena for $80 i could run it into a lake for fun. I am about to start it as a fun project car. A friend and I have decided to fix the mechanical problem and then have fun with it. I was considering ricing it out but i will have to see what the budget allows for after the mechanical issues. I would enjoy trading problems with you for further reference. I currently have a '00 sierra which i have put in an intake and a few other mods to. I am just learning the world of import but so far i like. If you decide to get it i hav an LS.

They are reliable. It will be slow, and uncomferatable. It is ugly as a POS. Have you ever seen a Toyota Corrola GTS (tureno, ae86). They look kind of like that. All in all, It will hold you intill you get your GSR.

alnen,
I had one of these. I bought it with 105k on the clock in 1996 and retired it in 1999 with 202k on the clock. I averaged 35mpg and the car was pretty reliable. The only real problems were maintenance items. The alternator went at about 170k, so be prepared for that.
The main problem the car had was that the PO had rustproofed it, so all the drain channels were stoppered up with that goop. The car was rusting from the inside out. I knew it was time to get rid of it when I'd drive down the road in the morning and I could hear the body flex...eek.
Once I got up around 160k it started drinking oil. Something like 2 quarts between changes, but oil is cheap so I kept half a case with me and checked it frequently.
Ah, this was the last car I had with a sunroof...at least I'm working on a convertible now...cool.
