Default Master cylinder?

Today I was under the dash and noticed that near my clutch there was some fluid that was dripping, it is dried up now. I was wondering if this was my master cylinder leaking? Is this normal? It is close to where the clutch goes through the fire wall from what i can remember. Anyone has this problem?

I would venture to say that that is not normal. I've never seen any fluid on my car. Does your clutch still work the same? Maybe you have a boken seal.

That is exactly what happened when my master cylinder went, as long as you keep the fuid topped up you can drive without any problems but eventually it will leak to much so you should have it replaced. Also you often have to have your slave cylinder replaced at the same time, just a heads up.

Not sure about the terms. Well there is definitly oil near under the dash. It is on the metal rod that is attatched to the clutch pedal that goes thru the fire wall. What is this called? Slave? what is the master cylinder? is it the biground thing in the egine bay?
