Default Rim Quality

Are knockoffs bad because they are just a copy of another co.'s wheels, or are they actually not as good a quality as the original? For instance, I really like motegi Mr7's but I saw these other ones called BSA's?? The motegi's are 849 w/tires and the BSA's are 689 w/tires but they look exactly the same. Excluding the tires and their quiality, do you pay for the name with motegi or for actual better quality?

I have heard that the motegis are poor in quality since they are knockoffs of the Konig Tantrums so those may be even worse.

I doubt they are different rims. They probably come out of the same factory with just different stickers:dunno:

Good point skelly.
What would be the difference in quality, maybe strenth or weight? And is it that big of a difference? What do you think guys?

Well Montegi MR7s are incredibly heavy to begin with, so I sure hope this other brand isn't any heavier.
I guess when in doubt, just use the classic saying: You get what you pay for.

true.......I'll give you an example....people talk so much garbage about ADR wheels, when in fact they last just as long as any wheel that would cost 1500$ more. Some wheels just cost more, so the companies can pay for their advertising campaigns, when in fact it really is all the same sh*t..........

Construction.

Forged wheels versus cast, etc. Weight also factors in here.

My rota's are "knock offs" of Racing Hart CP035's and they're strong as hell, as well as relatively light.

I don't think being a knockoff makes something automatically poor quality. Poor construction makes something poor quality. Just like anything else, buy reputable company's wheels or products and you should be fine; even if they look like more expensive rims.
