I've had my front/rear brakes done within the last couple months. Brand new rotors and pads, everything nice and new.

My front used to squeek when I was just about stopped. When I got them changed, the noise stopped. Then my rears started to do it, and I got them changed also.

But the rears still squeek when I'm about to come to a stop.

My friend told me that the something my be wrong with the calipers because the pads don't retract all the way, and they somewhat stick.....

Does this make sense? anyone else have this problem?

 

your pistons might be stuck....go ahead take off the rear tires and see of the they are caught

 

with my experience with brakes (been changing and fixing for 10 plus years) if the calipers are sticking you get a burning smell because they usually don't retract enough to release from the rotor. Good luck

 

there also might be nothing wrong... sometimes it's just brake dust (or some harmless foreign object) causing the squeeking...

 

My car has this too.... I had my brakes changed front and rear within the last 4 months. I origanally went with their top of the line pads.

I have brembo cross drilled and slotted rotors all around (wrong choice I know... but I was stupid, big deal).

I cracked the front pads in less then a full week of driving, and it was weird... I can actually hear the rear's engage. I get the squealing noise from the rears and sometimes from the fronts.

Pepboys is getting tired of replacing them for free... so the service manager is going to put on the green stuff pads I bought and refund me for the sh*t they sold me. I get them put on on thursday.

I was told not all pads work on honda's... you got cheap pads put on?

 

u all ever used squeak out.....its this gel u put on to stop the squeaks......it safe & all i used it & the squeaking stopped...i have the axxis brake pads.....

 

I would agree with the bound caliper, integras are famous for this. It is not neccecarily the piston, in fact it is more likely the sliding pins. If the caliper will not compress with your hand when it is off the rotor, it is the pins. get new pins from carquest and lube them up real good with high temp grease. To test for a binding piston, just jack up the car and try to turn the back wheels, they should roll around fairly easily, if not grab a caliper rebuild kit or a new caliper and slop that bad boy on there. BTW, i hate to hear people "having their brakes done", this is a waste of money, brakes are not as difficult to fix as some might think. I am going to do mine soon (autox is a b*tch) and i will do a full tutorial for the gsr w/pictures if anyone wants to see it, lets hear some replies on this one.

i had my fronts done at a shop... the rears where done by me and my buddy in the driveway

 

I wasn't going to have mine done.... but I ended up stripping that little flimsy screw on the caliper that holds it in place... I swear it is made of aluminum foil!!!
