what are you using your car for? Look at your previous post. I replied there.

How or where would you get weight reduction done, and what exactly do they do, replace parts with lighter ones? How much does that go for. J/W

Sounds good on a basic level, but the bigger question is: How are you planning to do it? On what kind of budget?

There are two strategies I can think of...

1) Just get rid of sh*t ya don't need.
Stereo, AC, Power Steering, Tar Sheets and under-carpet noise insulation, rear seats, etc all fall under this (power steering might be a bit much if you parallel park a lot).

2) Do step #1 and also fabricate the sh*t you do need out of lighter materials.
Tack on a Carbon Fiber hood (easy), CF doors and trunk/hatch (not easy or cheap, would require custom fab and LOTS of $$$).
You could also replace your front and rear windscreens for the lighter ITR ones...

The underlying premise is rock solid. The cost efficiency and aesthetic issues are up to you.

If it were my call I'd say leave the carpet and rear seat in, but strip the tar insulation, ditch AC and stereo, get a quality CF hood (don't forget hoodpins) and get rockin. That should drop around 200lbs (wild ass guess based on the work I've done to other cars I owned) and not end up looking like a theft recovery.

My 2˘.

No need to create 2 new topics. The moderators will lock your thread.

Custom fabricating doors and a trunk would cost thousands. Not to mention rendering your car unstreetable.

By the way, power steering on our Integras weigh 5 lbs.

The underlying premise is good IF you don't mind hearing 100 dB of interior cabin noise while cruising on the freeway.

Let me qualify and quantify what I posted earlier.

In my MkIII Supra Turbo, I chipped out all the tar mat sound insulation, ditched the ac & stereo and the fluffy sh*t on the backside of the carpet, then reinstalled the carpet only.

That, in combination with a fabricated parcel shelf in place of the rear seats (which were inaccesssible due to racing seats and 5pt harnesses) was enough to lose over 200 lbs. Highway noise rose by only 6 dB at 75 mph to 85dB total.

And it looked normal.

That said, you're definately right on CF doors and hatch; I just wanted to add some perspective to what started out as a rather vague question. The only examples of CF doors I've seen were for FD RX-7s...

Closed for a number of reasons:

1. You posted two threads on this topic.
2. There is another thread about this that is on the second page of the forum listing. https://www.honda-acura.net/forums/s...threadid=51373

It's a good idea to do a search or at least scan more than just the front page before you post a new thread.
