thanks!

Chances are it's a lot of highway miles right, so have it checked out at an Acura dealer (or Honda if you have to) to see if it's in good shape.

If possible , get a compression test. Look for blue or white smoke from the exhaust when you start up the car.

I have well over 300k on my teg that i just bought and its not in bad shape. As soon as i can gain access to a digital camera (mine broke ) I'll put some up. I'm in the restoration process right now and there is a little kink with the fueld pressure right now. Please refer to my fuel pressure question on 2/20/03 if you guys can offer any help at all. I'm stumped.

Live it up, rock on, and drive on!!!!!

Well, I think that stating Honda's will last forever is being a bit overzealous. I would estimate that if taken care of (regular maintenance items completed up to 150K, and then repeated after that), the engine should be quite reliable upto about 300K. When you go above that, regardless of how well you maintained any car, problems due to unavoidable deterioration and materials breakdown will become dominant - you'll eventually start having problems.

But, if you are keeping your car longer than 350K, the little problems become less noticeable and you still feel as though the car is 'as good as new'.

I second that. Although i did not earn those 350k+, I plan to keep it running until at leat 450k. Unfortunately most of the materials need for replacement are becoming harder and harder to come by. As long as i can support it I would like to keep this car and my baby will live for ever.

a car is like a woman..... you dont ask her age if the ride is still good!

If you take care of the car, it will take care of you.......My Gs-R had 143,000 when I bought it runs like it has about 50,000. Thats because the owner took care of the thing like it was his girl or something.

A few words of advice:

1. Try to buy a used car from older people, so the chances are greater that the car wasn't pushed too hard.

2. Buy the car from someone who is well off, so you know they didnt slack off on maintenance because of financial issues.

3. As a rule of thumb, try to stay away from cars that were already modded.
