V2 ( Hydro Lock ) ?
Im really interested in AEM's new intake the V2. Im willing to buy it now but am worried about the whole hydrolock issue. My last LS I had a AEM CAI w/bypass. Im kinda freaking cause I REALLY want to give it a go.. but dont want to damage my car in the process.
Can I hydrolock from just going through a puddle or heavy rain? or do I have to actually submerge the filter?
Any info on the V2 in relation to its performance / hydrolocking is much appreciated.

So all those death storys of people hydro locking there cars meant that in some way they had to submerge the filter.. Jeesh... The most I see is a 1/2inch of water on the road .. So with that said I should be safe ???
Yeah - the filter must be submerged to get hydrolock. I think people seem to have other things go wrong and unjustly attribute it to hydrolock.
Does the V2 allow for the bypass valve? I looked at the AEM site, but it was a little unclear on that. (At least it was back when I looked - don't know what it says now)

Absolutely :fawk:
Seriously though...
If I were you, I'd get the V2. You'll save a good bit of money over the Comptech, which you can spend on other things. If anything, the V2 will make more power. You won't submerge that thing, you're WAY too careful. You can dodge a manhole with the best of them. Haha, that sounds awful.

Question: I have an AEM CAI and I just cleaned the AEM filter after 2 years (6000 mi) of use and it's not really dirty yet. But, I cleaned it anyway with the AEM cleaning kit.
But after I reinstalled the filter back, and first started the engine, it felt as if the engine had a hicup and it didn't start. So, i paused and thought of any reason why. But it started the second time and could not recreate it afterwards.
Does anyone know of the reason why? Did I over oil the filter (but I was following the instructions carefully) ? Was it hydrolock? Was I not pressing the clutch hard enough?
How would you know if you have over oiled it?
Thanks in advance for your help.
