tranny question
im currently running a 96 gsr and i want to get a type R tranny. i have a few questions though, cuz i mainly want the LSD and slightly different gearing.
would it be cheaper to just change the final drive and put in an LSD in my current tranny?
another option is to get the type R tranny. if i go this route, would u suggest the jdm 98 spec tranny or just the jdm 96 spec/USDM tranny?
please give me costs and pros and cons of installation and performance. any advice would be appreciated. thanks.

I'm actually getting ready to do the same thing; i will have my type r tranny in about 1 month and a half. I priced a few, and the prices ranged from $ 1100 for a 98 usdm itr tranny, up to 1600 for a brand new 2001 jdm itr tranny. I definetely think that the 1200 is worth it, for the lsd, and smaller gears (My setup will be drag-only). A seperate LSD unit cost around $ 800. so basically you are paying 400 more for the smaller gears............
