Default Misfire - stumble

92 Acura Integra 5spd. Car has 245k, im hardly ever on here because the car runs great most of the time.

Recently within the last month a misfire or stumble has developed. At first it only occurred at highway speed in 5th gear while cruising. It would just hiccup a little and then be fine.

Now the problem is becoming more prevalent, anything about 3k will stumble but the car is still drivable, i can run 80mph down the interstate it will just jerk every few seconds. If i go above 3/4 throttle the problem will clear up.

At idle i can hear it in the exhaust, and barely feel it in the car, i can rev the engine up to 3-4k and hold it, and it stumbles, but it will rev up without much effort.

I do tune ups every 30k, about once a year, im about 15k shy of a tune up. Been though a few tanks of gas at different stations. I havent had much time to look at the car, im going to try to look at it Saturday. But wanted to gather opinions before i tear into it.

I need to replace the fuel filter, do a fuel pressure check, check the distributor. Check the injectors. Btw NO CELL LIGHT. The light works properly but the car is not throwing any codes.

I would check: spark plugs, wires, distributor, fuel filter, and injectors. Start with the easier stuff first. I don't know if the OBD 1 reads misfires but I know that my OBD 2 will throw a code when it had a misfire.

They're bad about randomly eating plug wires.

Have you replaced the dizzy cap and rotor? Also the coil may be weak.

hold down bolt for the rotor backed out. Luckily it didnt move too far or the car would have quit running. It moved just enough to jump time a smidge. Replaced the torn up cap and rotor and the car is back to normal.

Funny thing is this is the second time the bolt has backed out. Last time my wife got stuck on the side of the road. this time I found a new bolt and used a dap of locktite.

300k here i come!

Nice, easy fix. Locktite is always a good idea on those bolts, just don't over do it. You might want to get it back out later.
