Default GS-R Idle too low?

I got a 2001 GS-R and I noticed today that when in neutral the car was idleing at 100rpms. Is this normal? What is it supposed to be at? Thanks for your help.

All 3G GS-R's should idle at 750+/-50 RPM (factory specs). If its above or below that, you have to reset the idle set screw. I wouldn't worry if your idle is 500RPM, but 100?? You should fix that. Also, check that when you turn AC on and 4th level fan setting, that your idle RPM increases by about 150.

first of all, know how to read your tachometer. There's 0 and then the next bold line is 500RPM, then 600, 700, etc. You probably meant 600RPM.

If it does this constantly just adjust the idle screw. The idle screw is located on the top of the throttle body. it a big flat-headed screw that requires a flat-head screwdriver to turn it. you can't miss it.

:werd:

and if its at 600, its not "too" low, but it is lower than "oem spec". just adjust your idle back up a lil bit till its at 700-750

Idle speed setting Page 1, Page 2

I've posted those links many times, you definitely should have been able to find them with a search.

Id leave it alone...I wouldnt adjust the idle.

If it continues over a long period of time, then give it a shot. 600RPM idle isnt an issue as long as it isnt sputtering. And even then, if it just happened once, keep an eye on it over the next few days and go from there.

You dont EVER want to change things if you dont have to.
