Default valve cover gasket

hey guys...i plan on doing a valve adjustment this weekend and i will also be replacing my valve cover gasket. my friend changed his valve cover not too long ago, but he used a generic brand gasket sealant instead of honda bond. the instructions for the sealant said that it would take about 24 hours for it to cure, and he didnt drive his car till the next day. was that really necessary? is it the same w/ the honda bond or can i just drive it once i'm done?

Best to follow the directions of the sealant you use and you should use some sort. I didn't use sealant once and it started leaking so I had to pull the valve cover again and get some sealant.

If you use a honda valve cover gasket no sealant required, just make sure you seat it properly, and check around the valve cover for leaking oil.

in the helms manual, it says to use liquid sealant on the designated points of the gasket. :dunno:

edit: you can also see the remains of sealant that was first used once you take off the valve cover.
