So I was at a local parking lot yesterday and was backing out of my spot. Then when I went to shift to first I could not get it out of reverse.. so I feathered the clutch a bit and then it slipped out. So I figured ahh some freak thing that will prolly never happen again. I strat to pull away and all is good. Then I shift to second .. ( Cling bing crunch..cling ..cling ) I was like .. hrmmm .. This coming from my tranny. So I go through all my gears .. all seemed fine and the sound went away... So I park my car and figure Id check things out later .. Well later came and I went to back it out of its spot ... and ( Hey look I dont have reverse ) ... Theres not even a slot for reverse ... So Im thinking It shattered some how and the clinging was it slipping to the bottom of my tranny ...

Anyone else have any issues like this ? Its a 2000 Integra LS ... With 32,000 miles.

Also do you think acura will replace it under warrenty ? Thanks

Ive never done anything out of the norm in reverse.. Heck I hardly ever ripped tire with this car... Thats why Im so curious as to why it would let go so easily. Im thinking the prior owner might of done something with it. ahh who knows .. I just hope acura doesnt give me any trouble...

 

Just checking. I remember someone saying that they redlined reverse to see if they could.

yeah i remember that thread....whoever did that needs a :slap:

 

it might be your clutch, it would go out before the transmission if you drive it regularly. If the car is under warrenty i just take it to honda and try to break it even more so you know your going to get a new transmission .

 

But see the thing is .. 1,2,3,4,5, is fine ... Grabs good and everything .. I just dont have a reverse .. Theres no longer a slot to get it into. Its as if the transmition was made with out one. Also it did sound pretty nasty.. Like a gear shattering and falling to the bottom of the case would sound like ..

imo...Go to the dealer and have them warranty repair it before something else goes wrong with your tranny.

 

they might try and give you BS reasons about your car voiding the warranty because of your mods. Something similar happened to my friend his 3rd gear totally died, he couldn't go over 3k rpm in 3rd cuz it woud go crazy and make weird noises. But after *****ing at the dealership and saying what was wrong since he knew they agreed to fix his transmission under warranty. they wanted to charge $1600
