i hear my vtec on my 01 gsr coupe and when it hits 6-7 thousand rpms, its pretty loud..

 

Thats not your Vtec... Thats your secondary intake manifold opening .. should be right around 6k or so...

my car hits vtec at exactly 4400 like it should, and at full throttle opens secondaries religiously at 5600-5700 rpms....as far as the sound goes, 2ndaries are much louder, however when i had a testpipe in with my Apex WS catback, the vtec was disgustingly loud (obviously) now just with high flow cat its more muffled
