Default hatch noise

on a 94 teg, hatchback, when in the city(****ty roads) my hatch makes all kinds of squeaking noise, as if its loose. But its completely water proof, so its not loose, i tried adding extra weather seal(rubber surround) to the edge of the glass but this did not kill the noise, it just made shutting the hatch harder. Does anyone have any suggestions?????

i've heard wrapping electrical tape around the latch helps cure this noise.. haven't tried it myself, but then again, i haven't noticed any squeaking lately.

lol mine does the same thing.. i think ima try the whole tape thing, i think it might be latch as well, thats where i hear the sqeaking comming from, and it didnt do it till it got really cold outside.. metal shrinks when cold, metal latch=shrunk latch in cold weather...

This happned to me.. I got some electrical tape, wrapped it around the latch a few times, and the noise stopped. Also, if you want a more permanent solution, you can unscrew the latch, and flip it around and screw it back in.. As you drive the side of your latch gets worn, thus making it squeek. If you turn it around, you can use the fresh side of the latch, and the squeak will most likely stop. Ive never tried this method tho, just heard of it.. The tape works fine tho.

I have the answer to your problem. I had this very same problem. There are some little rubber shoes thingies on the inside of the hatch that rest on the flip top deck. Those are what make the squeaking noise as you drive and you move around. To stop it I used a heavy hair brush and worked it over the spots being rubbed. The idea is to keep the spots on the deck being rubbed as "plush" as possible. I hardly ever hear it anymore.
