Default sound system

i have posted in the audio section already but am posting here also cuz it's for a 99+ integra and maybe u guys could help too (in case u don't visit the audio forum)

i have no knowledge about this kinda stuff but would like a nice sound system for a 99+ Acura Integra. So here I am asking for recommendations from people. It'd be great if some1 could point me in the right direction: what stuff to look for when buying items such as speakers, subs, amps, and headunit. And if u guys can go beyond general info and give me some good brands and/or the specific models, that'd be EXCELLENT. Again, it's for a 99+ integra, so if u integra owners know the speaker sizes and good parts that work extra well for that particular car, it'd be of great help to me. I plan on getting stuff w/in the next week or so, probably from bestbuy so if that helps u help me in any way, cool. Thanks in advance!

First you need people need to know what your looking for. Such as a budget, what kind of sound you want for example ground pounder (big bass) or a sound quality system. Probably even the kind of music you listen to. That will help determine the kinda of power youre going to need as well speakers. Speakers are hard to choose and i would suggest going to a shop and listening to them cause what other people like you might hate. Best buy isn't a good place to test, too much damn backround noise. Keep in mind speakers may not sound that same once you get them in the car because it is such a differenent evironment. Don't forget to leave room in your budget for wiring and install if you are not planning to do it yourself. If you tell that info to some shops they will probably get some good recomendations. Shop around, best buy is cheaper but you do tend to get what you pay for so watch out. You could also build a piece at a time and end up with somethign better.

umm music....trance/dance/hip-hop/r&b...... i guess i'm leaning towards better sound quality over bass, but want to be able to kick it w/ lotta bass when i want it. price ranggggee....well the reason i'm going w/ bestbuy is cuz of a friend's discount so i plan on spending $1000 more or less....so maybe w/out a discount depending on the exact models it should really cost 1500-2000??

When i bought speakers, I bought the 3 ways made by pioneer. I got 6 1/2's for the front and rear and they sound excellent! They only costed me 90 bucks which aint that bad. No distortion at all.

dont buy anything sony.....except maybe subs......sony is garbage.....they just look nice....I have a rockford fossgate 400S hooked up to two sony explod amp (which i'd liek to change to some DVC amps) and it pounds.....especially if you've got a hatchback (which I dont) it'll pound.... I think the best speakers bestbuy has are the fossgates too....the sony's might be alrite...btu i'd try to stay away from them...... if you do go elsewhere....I've got Memphis speakers which sound nice...but also PPI, baoston acoustics, and jl make great stuff...anywyas hope that helped.....and yo might want to get two amps...one for the speakers as well as oen for the subs.... but if not get a string deck...mins JVC and it's nice..

-sony sucks plain n simple
-RF isnt what is used to be rather get there old punch amps then there new lines
-Q logic should be resealed if you get it, to many leaks
get a cap
-staging in the rear is bad, you only need a sub in the rear really
-just because it cost alot doesnt mean its worth it

Yeah best buy doesn't exactlly have a lot of top quality stuff. Mostly high productions stuff. 1000 could get some good stuff at a better shop. Werd on the old fosgate stuff though. The old oval black ones were awsome.

well ok, let me ask another question. The main reason that i'm gettin' a system is because i heard that the integra stock sound system is terrible (yes i don't own a 'teg, BUT I WILL!! as soon as i can find a decent used one) But let me ask u owners how u feel? is the stock system sufficient? or does it suck like i've heard?

It's adequate. I wouldn't go so far as to say it 'sucks'. Sure, it's no competition sound system, but for a factory stereo, it does it's job. I'd say get the car (or ride in one) before you go spending any money on a sound system. More often than not, I find myself turning it off/down so I can listen to the scream of the motor. I'd spend my $$$ to make it go faster and handle better, but that's just me. If it turns out you are intent on upgrading the stereo, I'd say spend your money on a really nice head unit that you can build onto later. $1000 isn't going to get you really far in the car audio world. Hell, that wouldn't cover the wiring cost of some systems. Figure out exactly what you want before you run out and start buying stuff.
