sound system
subs= JL
amp=zapco

I have both and they r just awsome, i'm not an audio person but this setup is just perfect, clear, nice bass, maby in future i will change my stock speakers but for nowthey work just perfect. I also used mtx, kenwood and pioneer and my current setup works perfect. Now for the deck, i had a clarion which was really nice till some ****en idiot broke in to my car and stole it
but now i got a JVC sh 99 mp3 and i can tell you that it sounds alot better than clarion, it's an awsome deck, i use to think sony and jvc is **** and i still agree sony is but jvc is pretty good, i have my deck for like 6 months now and no complains
Now if you really wann sped a little than i would go with alpine mp3 deck, just awsome, and than there is that clarion am/fm/cd/mp3/dvd/tv in one but it will cost you about $10000 just for the head unit( it sounds and looks awsome thou my buddy has one in his teg). O and audiobahn is pretty good too lots of bass

ITRraceR: zapco is pretty pricey and hard to find in a lot of areas. but i hear they are top notch stuff, at least their older stuff are.
and the alpine deck, are you talking about the F1 series?

I suggest that for speakers you use FUSION, they are from Australia and are very good and price is well too. I bought a pair of 3-ways for $100. The amps and woofers are also very decent for their price which is not that high. The trouble is finding a dealer around your location, there is one in my area, and not another for like another hour drive away.
i got 2 mtx 7500 subs with one 421d amp running it and itll shake ppls houses when i drive down my street. i want another 421d tho. theres an audio place next to where i work and just from listening there the best stuff for speakers/headunit in my opinion is the kenwood excelon(sure thats spelled wrong) stuff. there componet speakers are like 350 bucks but sound absoulutly amazing. i also have a jvc head unit...the exad model with the touch screen and i like it alot..its got a lot of flexibilty on altering ur system. but as far as subs go i think mtx all the way.
i'm a newb to audio but i was only looking at spending $400 on audio gear, i asked around for opinions with my friends and they helped me pick one out. i just installed it two days ago.
i bought an alpine deck 50x4 for $174
Polk 6'5 180 watt 2way front speakers for $99 (+$35 for harness). I havn't heard alot of other people's systems, but i like what i have
. what do you guys think? this is all i'm really looking to do as far as audio goes.

i like how everyone says sony is crap. in my girls civic we have sony xplode components, sony xplode head unit, and 2 12" pioneers in the trunk. sounds perfect. and everyone that hears it is shocked when i tell them its only sony and pioneer. in my 01 integra i just bought pioneer components for the front and rear last week. 6 speaker system only cost me $169 for the front 4 speakers and $69 for the 2 rear. im also planning on buying 1 15" solo baric for the trunk put in a custom box. which is going to come out to around $500 with the amp, custom box, and sub. like you im going with sound quality over how loud i sound from a block away. and the good thing about pioneer is that you can run it off of a good head unit like a Kenwood. and at a later date you could throw an amp on them and they will sound even better.
the main misconception people get is that they can run something like cerwin vegas, rockford, boston acoustic, or infinity, ir infinity kappa series component speakers off of the head unit. those speakers were more designed for amp usage and not running off of the head unit alone. best bet is to get something in the pioneer range that runs well off of a strong head unit that is still capable of running off of an amp if you so desire to at a later date. cost effective and sounds great either way

IMO anything infinity is good, as for component speakers. Kappa series is the best. but you would want to run those kinds of speakers off of an amp and not just off the head unit. that and infinitys cost a tiny fortune
