I plan on taking it back to the dealership soon, but since I need a new battery anyway, I'll install that first just to make sure that I'm wrong about that being the cause of the problem before I waste too much time at the dealership.

I will be a bum and wait for it to be summer and warm and it not do it again. Since my car is not under warranty anymore.

Alright kids..heres the low down.

Back in 94 Acura released a service bulletin indicating the relay may cause "rapid-lock" they corrected this the next year. In the cold our locks blow! My drivers side lock freezes all the time so i have to unlock thru the outside passenger lock. In low 20ºF weather (like today) the locks will not unlock or lock easily. Thanks to the metal rods, they expand and make it hard to move them through their rubber grommets. So that is why it only happens in the cold.

Do you happen to have that service bulletin or the ID for it?
I would think that this would have been fixed by the 2000 model year...

My 98 GS started doing something similiar, whenever i use my keyless entry sometimes, it won't unlock all the way, or won't even lock at all. I tried locking it through the switch and nothing was happening. Fuses seemed fine. But what's even weirder is the switch started working again later in the day, so perhaps it does have something to do with weather conditions. So the problem seems to be inconsistent. Anyone else figure out a solution to this, should i just replace the actuators?

I'm wondering if you took it back to the dealer...

Did anyone who experienced this problem w/the locks find the solution?

Still not yet - been out of town and I haven't had a chance to. I still want to replace my battery and then find out if that makes a differnece. I will post the results when I figure it out.

For those of you who asked, a new battery didn't fix my problem.

The car is supposed to go back to the dealership tomorrow, but since it's under 20" of snow, it's not gonna happen.
