for bad reception with the s2k antenna, just attach a good amount of home receiver antenna wiring inside the trunk paneling.. that solved my reception issues..

when mine broke, i would just hear the motor spinning. signs it had before it finally stopped working was the sound of gears slipping. i tore the thing open and found that the plastic cable (?) that retracts and extends the antenna had snapped.

Mine would get stuck when it was coming down but the motor worked fine. Usually when I just put a little WD-40 on it, it would work fine.

if it's the internal cable, and not the motor, you'll have to take the thing apart and replace the cable. however, i couldn't even get the entire cable assembly out, so i gave up and did s2k.

i think it ended up costing me about $25-$35 total. i bought an installation kit for it, but only used some of the parts, because i wasn't crazy about the fitment.

here's a how-to:

i ended up not using that pvc pipe. instead i used this metal piece that's part of the stock antenna, that fits under the fender. fits much better, imo.
