Default Turboing and building a gs 1.8 99' integra...

I am thinking about turbocharging my integra, and have looked at several different kits to buy. Greddy turbo kits and gen III turbo kits... As of right now my car is currently stock. I have only had it for 3 months, and need some advice, anyone out there that has theirs turbocharged... and has anysuggestions would help... secondly if I do it I want to do it right, any other modifications that I should do first to make my turbo work better... or so my my engine doesn't fry the pistons when I put it in?

if you buy a complete kit you should be safe. a lot of times, cars with high miles have trouble turboing but that isnt your case. shop around though and make sure you get the kit you want because you have to live with it for a while.

Make sure you budget enough money to tune your car after you install the turbo. Fuel management is key. How much boost do you plan to be running? If you're running 6-9 psi, your stock internals will be fine. The kits out there should be packaged well enough to contain everything you need (minus a standalone perhaps)

Like Shingo said. If you plan on buying a turbo kit that runs more then 6-9psi. Then other mods should be building up the internals. And if your worried about frying pistons and such then before putting in a turbo build up the internals anyways. I know I would. But thats just my opinion.

start off with a 3" thermal cat-back and a high-flow cat or testpipe, regardless, of you're turbo kit, the bigger the exhaust, the better. 2nd off you may want to look into upgrading your clutch, your stock clutch will start to slip... i don't care what other people tell you. Hondata or aem ems stand alone... tuning is the key to any turbo setup... you want to take care of your fuel management before you worry about building up your internals. What good are strong internals if your car isn't tuned correctly. i would personally rather run 6-10 psi with a tuned hondata over 6-10 psi untuned with built internals....
TUNING IS KEY TO ANY RELIABLE TURBO SETUP

Yea, it's all about the tuning. I'm fearing for my friend Chad's teg. He's got like 40 on it, it's a 2000 LS. He's getting a custom T03 kit with minimal management and 5.5 psi.

Bad things coming.
