Default clutch problem...?

Ok this happened today, when I put it in gear it wont "grab" until about th last 2-3 inches of the clutch is out. It feels stiffer at the very last bit of the clutch also. I thought my clutch was slipping or something i dont know. I had a friend(a mechanic) drive it, he said it was just from being hard on it and to take it eeasy for a week or two and it should be fine he said it might be"glazed over" which made no sense to me. O' well Im confused.

BTW the car only has 47K on it.

Thanks alot

Chase

I have the same problem. Most honda hydraulic clutches have a very high engagement point for some odd reason, but don't confuse a high grabbing clutch for a slipping clutch. My clutch grabs very strongly, although it grabs high.

Many people have commented on how our cars have all there actual sensitivity very close to the end, I guess it is just normal. If your clutch starts slippign you will know you will be able to give her and yet not accelerate and so on. I think that you are probably alright. I know nothing about the "glazed over" business so I can't comment on it.

Hope ths helps a little.

Is there any way to adjust this in our cars to get a lower engagement point, i have the same thing, and when im tired or my seat is not in its ideal position i drive like CRAP because i let out too early or late, an the engagement point, at least for me, is very narrow, so its easy to let out too fast and lurch

As far as I know you cannot adjust this, our hydraulic clutches are self adjusting.

What is the ideal life spand of the stock clutch on a gsr. I've thought I've heard that 65k is the average where they start to give out, but I'm prolly wrong. If anyone knows could they let me know, because I'm at 69,000 miles right and I'm just curious if my clutch is gonna starting slipping once I get into the mid to upper 70,000 mile range. I will not be a happy person on that day needless to say.

It really does depend how the car was driven. The more agressive, the sooner the clutch will start to slip. My friend's SE-R has the original stock clutch with 150,000 miles...still goin strong. He can drive very agressively at times, but when he does, the shifts are VERY QUICK and VERY CONTROLLED. I think he's probably the quicker than some of the guys in the the bm_tsukuba japanese race video I have. So basically, it really just depends on how you've been driving it.

i have a gsr and i got 109000 on the stock clutch and everything is fine, except for the throwout bearing, that needs to be replaced.

under normal driving conditions, stock clutch life on Integras is around 90-100K...although there are exceptions like the ones above, but there are also exceptions where cluthes only last 50-60K.

On a side note- My girlfriend's brother had a Nissan Altima, and his clutch blew out. we thought it was just the car, so he got it fixed, then less than 1000 miles later, it blew again. We started to doubt his 5 spd capabilities.
