Painting 95LS Outer Pieces White
I guess this may have been covered a few times in the past, but it's been a few years so I'm gonna ask a few new questions. This is a post from a few years back that is almost identical to my question:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
"I'm planning on painting my stock looking 94 LS, i want the side moldings, side skirts, and front lower lip all painted white to blend in with the rest of my car. I dont like the stock look to it, all those things being black on my white teg. I just want some opinions on this, what do you guys think i should do? I want my 94 to look like a 96 up cause all of those come with the matching color already."
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm wanting to know if anybody has done this with Dupli-Color spray paint for exterior plastic? Since 2 of the 3 pieces are low to the ground and take alot of frequent road debris, if it looks good but not perfect, that would be OK. The side moldings are the only pieces that are really noticeable and they're so small that I could probably do a decent job with the spray paint. I've seen it done on TV and in magazine articles a few times for pieces larger than this and it turned out OK. I don't own a paint gun or any other paint equipment and I don't want to pay a shop for something so minor. I'd just hit all the pieces with some primer, the white paint and then a clear coat.

Thanks for the link for the DIY! That's a pretty thorough explanation of all the steps involved in the paint process. I may not get that crazy on the pieces I'm painting or they'll look way better than the rest of the car. Then I'll have to paint the whole car or have it professionally painted. I am however thinking about painting my front bumper as well, if all of this goes pretty good. The clearcoat on the front bumper and some of the other areas on the car is kinda patchy. This really sucks in the Summer with all the bugs hitting the front bumper and side mirrors. You can't just power wash off the bugs anymore. Now, I have to scrub the sh*t out of the front bumper with a bug sponge since the bug guts and oils are pretty much baked on there after only a day or so. They come off ok, it just takes alot of elbow grease. Thanks again!
So what's the best/easiest way to paint the pieces? It looks like removing the side moldings are a pain, unless you're wanting to remove them all together and fill the remaining holes. Are the side skirts and black front lower bumper piece removable? If need be, I'll just tape off the car and paint all the pieces while their still on the car. I'll just try to do it all in a day or two, pending good weather and see what happens.
