oil problem

Default oil problem

its been happening for about two weeks..my oil light pressure light keeps flickering on and off but only when im coming to a stop or i make a sharp turn..i have oil so i dont know the problem....the engine is knocking but due to a bent valve which i gotta switch but im not sure if that has to do with the oil pressure light... any help welcome

keep in mind the oil light turns on when oil pressure drops below 5-10psi. if its already on, you've already done the damage basically.

a healthy engine idles with 25 psi and over 3000rpm goes over 75psi. if something is consistently causing the light to flicker, theres already some major damage.

i wouldnt say the bent valve itself is causing the light to go on, but specifically what event bent the valve in the first place brings forth the most suspicion.

sorry for the bad news...but maybe by chance its something little? :dunno: all my experience points otherwise.

well ima change the valves and see what happens...until then is it safe to ride around like that? it all happened when i was running and when i went to 4th it didnt kick in so it mishifted all the way to redline

unfortunately now that u mention that it was an over-rev condition, its almost certain that there was other damage other than the valves. the knocking you might be hearing may be a spun bearing, but the only way to know for sure is to take the engine apart.

as far as driving it around, I wouldnt, but if its your only car, then you have no choice.

yea it is im thinking of just getting a new head if its more than the valves

well getting a new head wont solve a spun rod/crank bearing.
