Default Going Turbo!

Well I made up my mind. Im going to Turbocharge my 2000 LS. I have a friend who does custom turbo's for all sorts of application's. Ive also seen some of his work. Due to me knowing him Im getting a hell of a deal.

What I would like to know is a little info from you guys.. or anyone who has this same setup.

How much are you pushing for PSI.. I was thinking of going with just 7psi or so.. to be safe. Also, were there any problems you ran into along the way?

Thank you for any help with this guys.. Its much appreciated!

My friend was boosting 7-8 PSI on his LS and in a few months ended up frying the rings and melting a piston. Make sure you start saving to build your internals ASAP.

You can run 7-8 psi daily without problems. I just suggest getting hondata and tuning. Stock internals can withstand a lot. I say get hondata and run about 12 psi for race and 8-10 daily. Tuning is key to making power and maintaining the engine.

It would be ok, but you should definately upgrade the clutch.

just make sure you pick good parts for your setup... i.e wastegate and some sort of fuel management... if your not planning to go past 10psi just stick with an FMU.

Make sure you tune it properly (preferably via hondata as someone mentioned earlier). You can destroy your engine running 6 psi with poor fuel management.

With *proper tuning*, you can run 12 psi *safely* on stock internals. If I were you just start with 6 psi and go from there.

So for now the stock clutch should be ok.. Im not going to be running around town redlining every strip. I plan on upgrading the clutch by summer but I just want to make sure Im ok until then..

Thanks

sounds like he wasn't getting enough fuel to compensate for the extra air..
