Difference in Intake
cold air cost more, short ram cost less.cold air good for high-end NA power,short-ram good for mid-power and superchargers.
cold air draws in cold air witch is more dense than the warmer air in the engine bay.sence the air is more dense more air can be combusted.
with a cold air intake you can hydrolock your motor,i suggest getting a 2 peice(INJEN) or comptechs cold air intake if you want to get the cai. i have a aem cold air and now want to sell it so i can buy a short ram, cause of rain mostly.
and finally there is a search button.

The AEM CAI produces a hump in the middle of the powerband, so no it's not just for high RPM increases. Secondly, unless you plan on driving through deep ass puddles there's nothing to worry about hydrolock. All of these socal guys have to deal with monsoon rains and forget that there are parts of the country which don't.

I'm really wanting to get a Comptech drop-in filter, maybe upgrade to the icebox later. It'd be easier to get to & clean the filter.
What do you think?

How about during winter? Being in CT, especially in a town that gets a LOT of stuff on the road (ice/salt/snow/etc.), would be hell for the filter, right?

I would be more worried about your paint/body with salt on the road...
