ls/vtec
If you're planning to run boost don't bother with the LSVTEC setup. A boosted B18b will be plenty. You can divert the funds you would have spent on LSVTEC to build up the engine and safely crank up the boost.
However, I can't say for sure whether 9 psi on a B18B will give more power than, say 7 psi on a LSVTEC motor.

bad idea with boost. ls/vtec isis great for all motor. people with sleves, block gurdle, pistons, rods and the whole nine yards have been blowing them up at only 6psi. if you do it it will defnitly be a BIG BANG for yor buck.
You can blow any motor at 6psi if it's not correctly tuned. I've seen them running 15+ psi, properly tuned and built, with no problems.
