Default Headlamp Bulb Issue

So my GSR is on it's 3rd set of low beam headlamp bulbs this year. They never seem to go out at the same time. I have been using standard wattage bulbs.

Is anyone else having a similar issue or offer any advice?

odd. i would look at the brand/model bulb. silverstars have had a reputation for crapping out with super young life cycles.

Odd is right. The first set that went out were silverstars. I bought a set of OEM bulbs this time around. That way if they go out I can just parts warranty them.

Also, I checked the headlamp plugs to see if they looked melted or burnt, but they look fine.

i know you're probably pretty capable, but the bulbs were clean right? like swabbed down with alcohol before installation, correct?

what about condensation buildup in your headlights?

are the rubber seals around the bulb base (where u put them in - the large rubber rings) firmly attached/sealed?

I did wipe them down before I put them in. I almost always do.

I haven't noticed any condensation, but i'll keep my eye open.

And I'll check the seals.

hmmm i'm going to think outside the box now.

is your alarm wired to your headlights so that they turn on when you first unlock your car?

do you turn on your lowbeams on and off at rapid pace (as if wired to your alarm that goes off frequently)

constant on and off cycling shortens a bulb's (any bulb, household, automotive, etc) life considerably, but you already knew that.

i dunno, i just went throught a debacle with my headlights and i can share your frustration

That is odd. I've only changed my low's once in the 9 or so years i've had my car.

I'd just go with some Hyper Whites. Like the type everyone use to get for that HID look before they sold kits. Other than that I'm not sure what else your problem is.
Good Luck

Check all the connectors for corrosion also. A little on the plugs could shorten the life of the bulbs.

thanks for the info...but this helps little with GSRacer's problem

its like when someone posts about getting 15mpg and asking whats wrong with their car, and all the replies are "well i get 45mpg in my car". or when someone asks "why does my motor burn so much oil" and the replies are "my engine doesnt burn a drop". I'm sure the original poster is fully aware that his problem isnt normal, otherwise he wouldnt have posted.

I wouldnt recommend hiper whites to anyone. if anything they're more expensive than standard bulbs, but for way less quality. they'll blow out faster, since the original problem was never addressed.

okay, now that might help the situation.

bulbs have a standard operating voltage range, so if your wires are corroded or burned up, the resistance for the voltage going to the bulbs themselves will be out of spec.

have you checked the resistance of the headlight wires going to the plugs?
