Default header wrap on intake?

ok,that header wrap stuff,if you know what i'm talking about,if i was to wrap my intake piping with it would it keep hot air away from my intake?or would it just cause it to get hotter in the intake?

yeah...it's an insulator, so it should keep heat away from the intake air.

But the intake air is hot from the engine bay, so it can't dissipate through the metal of the intake.

What you're saying regarding the intake makes sense,if that's how you're planning on using the wrap. Those wraps aren't the greatest for your headers though,I was warned by a local tuner shop not to use them because they actually trapp moisture and will eventually rot out your header (stainless or ceramic). They did say however that they do work and that they would order them if I still wanted them.Even though my headers are ceramic coated they recommended going with Swain coatings (or another company,I forget). They do a more extensive job of coating your headers.Hope this helps you or anyone else out there.

yeah, I was thinking of a CAI...if it's a short ram, though, it's gonna be hot no matter what.

oh,by the way, importsyn, there is a spay ment for spraying over the wrap on the header,so that moister doesn't get to it like you were saying.
