Default considering this shift light

it is a progressive illumination shift light. MRT Performance makes it. as your rpm increases, the LED's turn on in sequence, when the last light illuminates, you shift. i dont want a big auto meter, and this might be more accurate than the stock tach. what do you think? oh yeah, cost is US$93.28 plus S&H.

Why do you need a tach to know when to shift? get to know your car by listening. You'll know when you need to shift.

A more worthwhile investment would be a "vtec light". That way you'll know when you're killing your mpg, and whether you downshifted correctly into your powerband. It's actually a pretty common DIY type-deal. There are quite a few webpages detailing the "install".

I agree. My stock tach does the job plenty fine.

Useless...listen to the engine instead. I suppose there's a certain 'cool' factor, but other than that nothing; spend your $100 on something worthwhile, like gas.

that is quite an eyesore...

my recommendation - get just a single shiftlight like you'd find attached to that HIDEOUS autometer tach and install it on the dash. that's IF you absolutely need one..here's an article:
