5000 miles!! I'd say no way in h3ll. I can't even make it to 5000 km. By then it's usually black as sh!t and down 1/2 quart. I change every 4000 km (about 2500 mi).

But, like everyone else has said, it depends on your driving style... Watch the colour and level.

then you should have your engine checked. my old gs-r had 115k and i was running royal purple. i would wait 5000-5500 between changes and when i t came out it just wasnt purple anymore, not filthy nasty and diluted.

i've seen several cars who ran amsoil only, their engines were in amazing shape. this is what they ran: http://www.amsoil.com/products/amo.html

yeah amsoil kicks arse. might switch to amsoil oil and filters once i run out of mobil 1 tri-syn. 25000 miles or 12 months, whichever comes first. haha.

another hot topic is what's a "true" synthetic. castrol doesn't use a "true" basestock and neither does mobil 1 anymore after losing a courty decision to castrol. so what are the "real" synthetics out there? amsoil, royal purple, neo, valvoline synpower, and chevron supreme syn.

oh yeah, i forgot to mention, one of the cars running amsoil was a 98 R with built motor running 14 psi. he had 56k miles on it last time i saw it. it looked almost like he was running tranny oil with detergents in it. soooooooo clean! and it didnt leak at all.

It depends, I take no chances with my R and go every 3000 with full synth, but the 3.2 will get full synth every 5000 or so. The 91 Accord gets mineral oil every 3000.
