Default integra info?

hello integra ppl,
i'm thinking about getting a GSR (used obviously) in the near future...I was wondering about the changes that were made to the car btw the years of 94-02 so i can make a better decision on my purchase. I know the body is the same in all years (i think), but was just wondering on what small things i should be considering...(ie: 99+ has diff front bumper, leather standard, 94-95 are OBDI)....things like that....
I had a specific question also, the 99+ tegs came out w/ all redded taillights, and the previous years had the orange signal. My question is: are the taillights btw 94-98 and 99-02 the same size? (as in 99-02 will fit 94-98 w/ no mods whatsoever)
This is because i like the all red better and if purchasing a 94-98, i'd rather have real all red tails instead of using tape or paint.
Thanks in advance
-possibly a future 'teg owner

www.edmunds.com is a good place to research the differences in standard features and options. But I'll try to do a brief summary of the stuff you asked about. You seem to know most of this stuff but 98 was the changeover.

94-95 - Have OBD-1 emissions electronics which supposedly makes performance mods more effective than with newer models.
96 - OBD-2 introduced.
98 - Headlights and taillights changed as did front and rear bumpers. Most people like the newer look.
99-01 - GS-Rs come with leather standard.

And yes, pre-98 and 98+ taillights are interchangeable.

The 94-97 had tails with yellow, while the 98-01 had the all-red. And they were the same size all years. It's pretty common for someone with a 94-97 to replace the taillights with 98-01.

94-97 was the original body style, while the 98-01 incorporated a more aggressive "wide-mouth" front bumper, relatively flush headlights (rather than the recessed ones of 94-97) and a revised rear bumper.

GSR power levels remained the same all years, while the 94-95 LS had 142 hp. This decreased to 140hp in 96' with the introduction of OBDII.

Different year GSR's came w/ different rims. 94-95 had a traditional 5-spoke style, the 96's had six-spoke rims that most people don't like. The 99-01 had a "chromed" six-spoke "blade style" rim. I think the 97-98 had a multi-spoke design, but I'm not sure.

In terms of performance, OBDI is slightly easier to work with if you're just going the bolt-on route and are looking for free hp (advance your timing perhaps?). Of course, an older integra is going to net you more problems (fading milano red anyone?) but it depends how much you have to spend. I personally prefer the 98+ look.

94-95 are way better as the ECU is more performance orientated (accepts mods better) and the 96+ is not.

all sounds good to me...OBDI sounds nice, but i looked around some online databases (cars.com autotrader.com etc.) and can't really find a 94-95 in my area with a decent # of miles on it, maybe hafta go w/ a newer version, but thats kool too, give and take.... thanx for every1's replies

actually, another question arose...it was mentioned earlier that not only the bumper changed, but also the shape of the headlights? more "flush"? i'm assuming that newer model headlights will not fit on older ones (as the taillights do). One of the things i had on my to-do list (one of the top things) was a JDM front end conversion, which i hope will not rely on the year of the car (94-01)

The headlights are not interchangeable between the 94-97's and the 98-01s, you have to replace the entire bumper. But a JDM front end should fit no matter what year you have, since it replaces the entire bumper anyway.

OBD2 isn't some massive handicap that people make it out to be, and there's nothing "performance oriented" about OBD1. You'll get essentially the same results from bolt ons regardless of what ECU you run.

If you want to reprogram the thing (and no, you do not get power from a "universal" chip that's not tuned for your car) OBD1 gives you a few more options but it's simple enough to convert an OBD2 car back to OBD1 if need be.
