Default Block/Head/Crank combo

My original B18C1 block is all dicked up. The oil filter seat has been whacked at with a hammer and chisel, and its been bored out to the limit. I'm in need of a new bare block. I realize the B18C5 block would work, as a replacement but I'm looking at the other options as well. Will the VTEC B16 blocks work with the B18C1 head and crank? I've heard the main journals on the non-VTEC B18's are smaller or bigger or other incompatible. I'm basically just looking for something that will work with as many of the components I have already. Thanks in advance.

The B16 block has a shorter deck height. You'd probably run into some clearance issues if you run the B18C crank and rods.
