why would a 98 type r need a new battery?

I keep my Type R's battery on a trickle charger since I don't drive it much. It works just fine. After 4 years, car batteries tend to need replacement. Such is the nature of lead-acid batteries.

Unfortunatly there is no prerequisite IQ test before buying one, so occasionally* some idiot ends up with one in his driveway. That said, my 198 ITR's battery is dying currently, I don't expect it to make the winter.

have you guys ever thought that maybe other vehicles he had batteries have lasted longer then 4 years or so?
