Question about lowering a Type R
hey all, im new to the site and had a question for you guys...what is a good drop on a type r? If i lower it a 1.5 drop will it still look the same as it does now? or would i need a lower drop to make a differance? say like a 1.7-2.0 drop?
thanks for the comment, but i still want to know the question...i know what the car is about and how it handles, but i dont take it to the track..if i find that it handles like crap i will take them off
They're a threaded body coilover with excellent resistance to corrosion and they are designed with spring and damping rates specific for the DC2 ITR.

I want to say that the Type R sits a bit lower than all other Integras. Don't quote me on that, but if so, I would not go any lower than 1.5 inches on the drop. If not, 2 inches max. On the flip side, I am anti-coil overs, the amount of thread strips and jam ups I have seen across the board are not appealing to me in the slightest. Maybe it's just me, but I have seen that happen. Not with Tein's however, but none the less, a bad taste in the mouth. You give the wrong person the authority to adjust their suspension and you would be surprised just how often they he and hah about whether they are happy or not, thus constantly fucking with it until they think they have it right. With a straight set-up of springs and adjustable struts you eliminate that temptation to crank up and down on the ratchet to make your car "perfect."
yeah they do sit a lil lower then a stock integra, if i lower it 1.5 inch seeing they are a normal integra spring would it still be a same stance as what its at now? or would have to lower it more to see a differance?..i am also anti-coilovers as well...i had a skuck2 coilovers with koni yellow adj. struts on my gsr, mind you i bought it like that, but the ride was crazy rough but was best handleing car i have ever been in, and the car was built from the ground up for racing. Im not looking for the best, i just want to lower the car a lil bit
The point I think most of us are trying to impress upon you is that even if you're only lowering the car for aesthetics, you should consider products that are engineered specifically for the ITR.
Also, keep in mind that any aftermarket spring set is going to be stiffer and will negatively affect ride quality.
You seem to have some contradictory goals in mind; I'd hate to see you lose money by going with some no-name eBay brand springs only to realize that you were better off keeping the car stock.

i know what you guys are trying to say.. and i never said i was going the cheap ebay way...i still may go with the coilovers but i just wanted to know what drop to do...im not a cheap ass if its coming across like that, its just that i live in Nova Scotia and the roads arnt the best around here and a coilover set up i found was just to rough for me
